The Mark of YHVH

For those searching for a close, interpersonal and intimate relationship with the Creator of the Universe, this is a question worthy of some thought.

Most often, the answer to this question will be something like, “I follow God.”  To this I would respond, “Which God?  There are many gods, what is your God’s name?”  The answer goes something like this, “Well, his name is God!” Or perhaps, “His name is the Lord.”  Or even sometimes, “It doesn’t matter because He knows I am following Him.” As in all matters, let’s look to His Word and let Scripture interpret Scripture for guidance.

In Shemoth (Exodus) 3:15 He gives us His Name to zeker (mention) Him by for all generations.  His Name is YHVH.  This is a command, not an option, spoken directly to all of Israel, from the Creator of the Universe.

Then, again speaking to all of Israel in Shemoth 20:1-11 He gives us the first Four Words (Commandments) that govern our relationship with Him.

1. “You shall have no other mighty ones against My Face.”

2. “You do not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of that which is in the heavens above, or which is in the earth beneath, or which is in the waters under the earth, you do not bow down to them nor serve them…”

3. “You do not bring the Name of YHVH your Elohim to naught…”

4. “Remember the Sabbath day, to set it apart.”

In 1 Melakim (Kings) 18 He speaks through His prophet Eliyahu (Elijiah) to all the people of Israel, challenging them to chose between YHVH and Ba’al (Lord).  Verse 21 And Eliyahu came to all the people and said, “How long would you keep hopping between two opinions?  If YHVH is Elohim, follow Him; and if Ba’al, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.

When He came to minister to Israel in the flesh, as He promised, He said in Yohanan (John) 12:26 “If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me.  And where I am, there My servant also shall be.  If anyone serves Me, the Father shall value him.”

Yohanan 12:42-43 Still, even among the rulers many did believe in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the congregation, for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of Elohim.

In these latter days, He shows His Love once again so that people no longer have to keep hopping between two opinions.  Will you follow after “the Lord”, worshipping carved images of his likeness on Sunday morning, under the leadership of the Pharisees? Or will you follow the One True Elohim, YHVH?

If you choose not to follow Abba YHVH, you have chosen to follow s@t%n in one of his many disguised forms!

The risks and rewards of each of these choices are clearly revealed in Scripture for all to hear!
